Modris is neither better nor worse than his peers. His mother is raising him alone and the relationship is bad. Misfortunes start to roll down the hill like a snowball when Modris sells his mother's electric heater in a pawnshop to get the winnings from the slot machine. The long-standing conflict with the mother explodes and she hands her son over to the police for re-education. The court gives a two-year suspended sentence and thus begins the young man's adventures with the Latvian judicial system. Soon Modris realizes that he wants to find his unknown father.
